The Gold Leaf Dome project
One of our past projects dealt with a large remodel that included an area comprised of; bath, spa, vanity area and closets. The focal point of this area is a Gold Leaf Dome finished with 24Kt gold leaf. This Dome was one of the last areas to finish, since all the application was done by hand and the area needed to be kept clean and free of construction dust.
The details throughout this bath area speak for themselves. Following the Designer’s and owners wishes and guide, our craftsmen worked on each of their specialties to showcase their skills on every area; From the flooring, up the walls with paint and or wallpaper and all the way up to the ceiling, including the Gold Dome.
At the master bedroom, you walk into this area and you begin to discern the Gold Dome above you. From there you can walk into the closet areas or right towards the bath and vanity.
The Rest of Project
Once you go through the entry and past the Gold Dome, the next area is the Vanity. Notice all the detail in and around the cabinetry. Nothing was spared in the design of this area. The light fixtures over vanity match the chandelier, gold accents show throughout the entire area, handles, hinges, and bars. All designed to please the eye.
The walls are detailed with Venetian Plaster. This kind of work is very detailed and precise to bring out the natural shine of the plaster to a marble look. The effect can be achieved also with wax and or oil but it eventually fades or stains the plaster. A shortcut in the trade but not for this project.
Towards the back, you can see the jet tub with its gold colored wall paper and delicate print of flowers and trees, similar to a Japanese print.
Every piece of tile, baseboard, crown, cabinet and or mirrors were carefully planned and designed for these areas. There isn’t any piece or area that you can say it’s “over the top”.
The entire home is full of these small details, from the kitchen to family room. From the dining room and into library.
A lot of time was spent by all; owner, designer, contractor, sub-contractor in ensuring that all the pieces “fit together”, including a large steel beam between kitchen and family room to create an un-interrupted view into family area.
